Cape Town City midfielder Ayanda Patosi said he was 150% sure that his team would win the MTN8 final which takes place on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. Cape Town will face SuperSport United in a repeat of last year’s final.

Patosi said the entire squad was motivated to prevent a repeat of last year’s final and wanted nothing more than to bring the cup back to Cape Town. SuperSport won the trophy last year after coming back in the penalty post-regular time penalty shootout.

Patosi said there was a palpable buzz in the squad ahead of Saturday’s game and he personally was still feeling incredible after he scored two late goals against Orlando Pirates to complete a stunning comeback draw on Wednesday.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Patosi said the team wanted to win the final in regular time but were not scared of going into a penalty shootout scenario. He said the team had been working on penalty scoring and were confident of their ability to convert chances.

TimesLive.co.za reported that Cape Town City’s squad has taken confidence from the semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns in which the team converted all of their penalty kicks to progress to the final.

SuperSport United coach Kaitano Tembo is taking the threat from Cape Town very seriously and said his side would face a vastly improved team than the one it played against in the 2017 final.

Tembo said a trend had been developing in recent years in which SuperSport United and Cape Town City seemed to play in cup finals. He said this made it difficult to prepare a strategy against them because finals brought their own unique challenges and pressure.

Meanwhile, Patosi said the match against Orlando Pirates and the terrific comeback performance had lifted the spirits of all the players in the squad after they were hammered 4-1 by Kaizer Chiefs the previous weekend.
