Baroka FC was held to a goalless draw by Free State Stars in their PSL clash on Wednesday night at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. Despite dominating large parts of the match Baroka could not convert that dominance into a win.
This allowed Free State Stars to collect what could yet become a valuable point as the season progresses. The result has moved Stars into the top eight on the PSL log while Baroka has moved out of the relegation zone and are now in 14th place.
Baroka dominated possession and territory but failed to place Free State’s defence under any real pressure with only two out of ten attempts at goal going anywhere near the goals.
Briefly.co.za gathered that both teams had multiple attempts at goal but ultimately neither team really looked like putting one in the back of the net at any point in the match.
Citizen.co.za reported that Baroka were left frustrated by the result as they clearly dominated play and failed to convert their scoring chances rather Free State stopping the team from scoring.
The draw means Baroka have now gone six matches in the PSL without registering a win.
Meanwhile, Baroka’s coach Wedson Nyirenda has reprimanded Talent Chawapihwa by not selecting him for last night’s match.
Nyirenda previously described Baroka’s star player as his son but said Chawapihwa needed to work on his discipline and would have to show remorse in order to get back in the starting line-up.
Chawapihwa refused to shake hands with Nyirenda after he was substituted in the match against Orlando Pirates. The coach warned he would not tolerate such behaviour and had previously fired players for similar displays.
Nyirenda denied a rift had developed between him and the player and said he was merely doing his job which includes disciplining players.
