Percy Tau’s dream start to his European career continued on Thursday evening as he played a starring role in his Royale Union Saint-Gilloise side’s 3-0 victory over Anderlecht in the Croky Cup. Tau was in brilliant form as he provided the spark his side needed for their opening goal.
Tau’s skills were put on display for the entire world to see as he created an early opening in the first half of the match which led to the opening goal being scored by Youssouf Niakate.
Tau moved to Europe earlier this year after signing a deal with English Premier League side Brighton Hove and Albion. The Bafana Bafana star has been loaned out to Royale Union Saint-Gilloise for a season to allow him time to adjust to European conditions and playing styles.
Briefly.co.za gathered that Royale Union Saint-Gilloise is currently a second division side in Belgium. The club is owned by the same man who owns Brighton.
TimesLive.co.za reported that Royale Union Saint-Gilloise were not expected to do well against Anderlecht which is one of the top-ranked teams in Belgium and play in the premier division.
Tau has impressed since his debut for the side when he scored a goal. He is growing in stature and confidence match by match.
Tau played for 68-minutes in the match on Thursday night before being substituted. The South African star was constantly on the prowl and managed a number of breaks. Although Tau did not score any of the three goals he has been credited as the star of the match.
Tau’s new club has made an impressive start to the season with a vastly improved performance over previous years. The club is currently only three points away from competing for a promotion spot.
Tau’s next match will be in on Sunday when his side faces OH Leuven.
