For months now, land reform has been the topic of conversation not only in government, but at public hearings, in the news and on social media.
Media mogul, Mzwanele Manyi, sparked quite the debate when he posted some images on twitter, captioned: ‘Why do we need land?’
One user, who goes by the handle President Gupta, was quick to clap back atManyi: “Jimmy, forget about the land. You have more@important things to worry about. Have you reinstated all the fired workers by the way?”
It’s not clear what Manyi meant by his cryptic tweet, but it’s clear there were some people who were for land reform, while others were against it.
Molokela Mogano wrote: “If that was the case people from villages will be filthy rich.. They leave behind the very same land and go squad at densely populated informal settlements in urban areas...what we are really lacking is skills and resources.”
Sphiwe Matone was a little confused by the former government communications head’s tweet: “So you are saying having the land will make you own farms and mines? As is you cant own land now. If you want land you work hard and pay for that land.”
