We’ve written about Unathi Nkayi’s weight loss journey so many times, but we’re still so inspired by her continued progress. She’s almost 40, but is in the best shape she’s ever been.
It wasn’t long ago that Unathi announced her split from her husband, Thomas Msengana. Since the announcement, the musician has made it her mission to live a healthier lifestyle.
If that’s not enough reason to celebrate, Unathi is also the October cover star of Women’s Health.
In an interview with Anele Mdoda, Unathi said:
"When I first started going to the gym, I bought myself clothes that I wanted to fit into, the 'when I am thin clothes'. In 2011 when I just gave birth, I literally went to New York on a huge shopping spree of underwear and clothes and then I said, these are my 'when I am thin clothes' and after that, it started going slowly."
A few years ago, Unathi made the decision to take control of her weight. The media personality said a few factors contributed to her life altering choice- the fact that she was two kilograms away from pushing 100kg and the disrespectful ladies who threw themselves at her hubby.
"Rock bottom was not the comments or the disrespectful women who just threw themselves at my man, it was being two digits away from triple digits. I couldn't have that," TimesLIVE reported she said in 2017.
In a photo she posted on Instagram recently, Unathi said:
“THIS young #TBT is for YOU queen. You deserve it. Wether it’s to gain or lose or firm or to JUST BE HEALTHY. It takes time though. give yourself the gift of TIME. It is ACHIEVABLE. Today I can honestly say I am happy with THE WORK I have put it. Bless n Love.”
