- SABC is making some serious changes for 2019 and Real Talk may be one of them
- No decisions have been made yet, but Real Talk could be on the chopping block
- The producer, Janez Vermeiren, said that their contract ends in March 2019 and they are unsure if it will be renewed
Fans of the beloved Real Talk fear the end. SABC is set to make some radical changes in the new year and chopping Real Talk, may be one of them.
The SABC have been facing a lot of financial issues recently that brought on the need for change. The broadcaster is looking at its current shows in order to make the tough decisions as to which need to go.
SABC spokesperson Neo Momodu stated that they are currently doing their ‘annual strategic review’, but nothing has been set in stoner as of yet, reported Times Live.
Although nothing has been finalised, Real Talk is still a cause for concern. Janez Vermeiren, the producer, stated that the show has been renewed till March 2019, but he is unsure about them signing off another renewal then.
Briefly.co.za learnt that when Azania Maseko took over from Anele Mdoda in June, the show’s ratings never dropped. This is a god sign for the show, but the lack of rating increases, may be one of its pit falls.
The shows biggest stab this year was its time slot change from 5pm to 6pm. Janex stated that the show ratings fell from the change and they are yet to recover.
It seems that we will have to wait till March 2019 to know for sure, but in the meantime, get as much Real Talk in as you can.
