Meet Beverley Gumbi, the businesswoman who thought outside the box

Beverley Gumbi is one entrepreneur who literally thought outside the box — and achieved phenomenal success in the process.

She is the founder and CEO of Isivuno Container Business, Briefly.co.za learned. It refurbishes old shipping containers and converts them into business units. It then sells or rents them.

Beverley founded her company in 2005 in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal, SowetanLIVE reports. More than a decade later, Isivuno now has branches throughout the country.

Beverley's business idea has many more possibilities, including converting the containers into dwelling units and ablution facilities. She has even converted one into a cinema hall.

Her entrepreneurial success has won her numerous awards. Recently, she won the the Judges Award at the Entrepreneur of the Year (EOY) 2018 competition.

Beverley now has a staff compliment of 30 to 40 employees. Her biggest clients include municipalities, government departments, and private companies.

She's keen to see more women in business. Her advice to them is to stay focused:

It's a question of staying in your lane and knowing what you want and what you are doing and doing it best, because consistency pays.
