Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene to own up to Gupta meetings

- Minister of Finance Nhlanhla Nene will appear before the state capture inquiry commission on Wednesday and will address his meetings with the Guptas

- Nene met with the family on more than one occasion and it is believed the meetings were about the Guptas' deal with Iqbal Survé

- The Guptas' apparently wanted Nene's intervention after Survé rejected them

South Africa's Finance Minister is expected to testify at the state capture inquiry and own up to the meetings he had with the Guptas.

Minister Nhlanhla Nene apparently held more than one meeting with the notorious family and will now tell Zondo's commission all about it.

Nene will appear in front of the commission on Wednesday, 3 October.

TimesLIVE reports that the meetings were about the PIC (Public Investment Corporation) deal with Sekunjalo Investment Holdings.

The Guptas apparently asked for Nene to intervene with this deal after Iqbal Survé rejected their attempts to buy a stake in the Independent News and Media group.
