The young man accused of the rape of a 6-year-old little girl in the bathroom of a Dros restaurant has been denied bail.
The accused rapist will remain in custody until his case appears in court on 1 November.
The charges against the accused are assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, rape and the possession of drugs.
The case has been postponed while an investigation continues.
Advocate Sanet Jordaan applied for postponement so forensic evidence can be obtained from the man's phone.
According to the accused's attorney, Rian du Plessis, the young man sustained injuries during his arrest.
He claims he was forced to do push-ups, kicked and hit with belts by police officers at the Silverton Police Station, according to a report by EWN.
Briefly.co.za reported earlier on this case. The accused allegedly raped the little girl in the bathroom of Dros restaurant on Saturday, 22 September.
According to an eyewitness, the man had watched the play area where the girl was playing with other kids.
