Cape Town City midfielder Thabo Nodada probably had the best night of his life on Saturday night. Nodada was celebrating winning the MTN8 trophy with his teammates when he received more amazing and possibly life-changing news.

Nodada is seen walking in stunned silence with his hands over his head when one of his teammates asks him what’s wrong and he explains that he received a call-up from Stuart Baxter.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Nodada’s stunned reaction shows that playing for the national side still means a lot to young players and is still seen as the ultimate honour in South African football.

Citizen.co.za reported that Nodada has been a consistent performer for Benni McCarthy’s side since he joined the club in 2016.

Bafana Bafana will face Seychelles on 13 and 16 October. Stuart Baxter’s squad can virtually book their place at the tournament if they win both matches.

Meanwhile, Soccerladuma.co.za reported that Baxter revealed why he chose to skip over selecting Nodada up until this point.

Baxter said he has kept a close eye on the midfielder in recent years but always felt his performances had been a little erratic. Baxter said Nodada had become a much calmer and more stable player in recent months which has led to him being more structured.

Baxter hailed McCarthy for working with Nodada to improve his overall skillset.
