- Coach Giovanni Solinas admits Siphiwe Tshabalala’s departure has been challenging
- Philani Zulu and Dumisani Zuma touted to step up in star man’s absence
- Chiefs have won 3 on the trot ahead of tonight’s fixture with Highlands Park
Giovanni Solinas, head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, has acknowledged the challenge facing his team after the departure of star man Siphiwe Tshabala to Erzurumspor in Turkey. Solinas told the Sunday Times that Tshabalala was a legend at the club following a 12 year period. He admitted the club’s reluctance to let go of the talismanic attacker but says they could not stand in the way of a wonderful opportunity abroad. Tshabalala departed in September ending with a goal tally of 58 in 372 games.
One of the options at Solinas’ disposal is right winger Dumisani Zuma. Solinas praised his versatility and says he is able to play across the midfield attacking positions. The coach also appreciates his willingness to help and support his teammates on field. However, it seems the coach is currently favoring the use of Philani Zulu on the left flank. The converted left back has already scored 2 goals in the new position on the left wing and Solinas says he expects even more as the player enjoys it higher up the pitch.
Chiefs face newly promoted Highlands Park at the Makhulong Stadium tonight following 3 consecutive league wins on the trot. This follows their rocky start to the campaign when they initially only earned 4 points from the opening 5 fixtures.
