A 35-year-old South African recently became one of the luckiest people in the country when he won R38 million in the PowerBall Plus. However, the man plans to keep things simple and won't even quit his job, despite being a millionaire.
The winner of the 21 September jackpot says his life won't be changing too much even if his bank balance is a lot stronger these days.
I'm still in a state of denial. I've never won anything with the lotto and now my first win was the jackpot!
The lucky winner usually spends about R150 on playing the lotto and only recently started playing PowerBall.
He says he always told himself he would win something but never thought he'd actually win the jackpot.
Two days after the draw, he went to the same shop where he bought his ticket and asked them to check if he won anything.
They told him to go to the Ituba offices and he realised he must have won some money. Little did he know he won the sought-after jackpot.
He didn't tell anyone that he won, the only person he took into his confidence was his father. The new millionaire plans to keep living a 'normal' life and won't be quitting his 9-5 job.
The only new thing in his life will be the time he spends outside and travelling. He wants to use his winnings to take care of his retired father, pay off his debt, and visit new places.
