Love Affair Production is a rocking new content creation agency. The young men behind this production house are Mangi Mbileni and Nanka Hawes, two passionate and creative spirits.
LAP focuses on creating video content that will make an impact in the digital space. According to Mangi, LAP's strongest point is in short form like documentaries.
The men also do corporate videos and started trying out working in animation.
Mangi's background is in media production and he has always been fascinated by it. Nanka's passion lies in videography and editing. When the two combined their knowledge and innovative thinking, LAP was born.
They felt there was a need for a business like their in South Africa.
For the two it is an exciting space to 'play' in. LAP was born in 2015 and initially, things were slow going. They'd get odd jobs but nothing like the big break they were looking for. But they're getting there.
One of the biggest challenges for LAP is how expensive it was to get started. They needed sound equipment, production equipment, cameras, and lighting equipment - all very expensive to obtain.
For now, the biggest challenge for LAP is securing long-term clients.
The men have survived surprisingly well on word-of-mouth marketing so far. They haven't yet had any big marketing plans but have finished building their website.
The name Love Affair was inspired by Mangi's original love affair with deep house music - he's actually a part-time DJ. They feel that they have a love affair for what they do and their name reflects that.
Right now, LAP is busy with a lot of corporate work that stemmed from their web series called Unfiltered.
The series can be found on YouTube and Twitter.
They are also working on a very big project - a documentary about the historic black schools of South Africa like Adams College.
Watch this space, these guys are going places.
