- 22 year old Nkanyiso Nene started month long trial with Kaizer Chiefs
- The young centre-back was photographed at Naturena today
- Chiefs are unbeaten in 7 games following last night’s stalemate
A new face was spotted at Naturena today as Kaizer Chiefs welcomed 22 year old centre back, Nkanyiso Nene. The youngster earned the amazing opportunity through Nedbank’s Ke Yona initiative. The campaign affords young talented footballers the opportunity to graduate to the bigger stage.
Nene, was photographed with Chiefs players at Naturena today and starts an exciting month long trail with the Glamour Boys. He faces stiff competition as Chiefs already boast quality defenders in Siyabonga Ngezana and Daniel Cardoso. Both were on the park as the contest between Chiefs and Highlands Park ended in a goalless stalemate last night. On the surface, the contest between the Amakhosi and Lions of the North was a David vs Goliath battle but the promoted side held their own against the in-form Chiefs.
The Glamour boys currently enjoy second place on the Absa Premiership table following their unbeaten run of 7 games. Their form is testament to the quality at their disposal in the starting 11 as well as in reserve. Nene was handed the captain’s armband when the Ke Yona team faced Free State Stars and will be hoping the bit of leadership experience he has gives him an edge in breaking into the star-studded Chiefs squad.
