- Thandani Ntshumayelo announces his new website in effort to combat substance abuse
- Former Pirates and Supersport United player received a 4 year ban for testing positive
- Ntshumayelo’s ban has been served and player is committed to raising awareness on the dangers of substance abuse
Former Supersport United and Orlando Pirates player, Thandani Ntshumayelo, has announced the launch of the website in his name. The website (www.thandanintshumayelo.co.za) will serve as a tool to highlight his playing days but also to educate the youth on the dangers of substance abuse. In addition, he also shares his life story through his YouTube page.
The midfielder failed a routine drug test following a premiership match during the 2015/ 2016 season. He tested positive for cocaine and received a 4 year ban from September 2016.
Ntshumayelo told KickOff.com that his focus changed to achieving a positive impact after his ban was imposed. He decided to use his footballing reach to raise awareness of drugs with a view of empowering the youth. The website will be used to arrange motivational talks and goodwill projects as a force for social good.
The player was granted amnesty and is currently eligible to play again. Having trained with Bidvest Wits, he also received an invite by SADTU to share his knowledge and experiences with the KZN youth. The 28 year old, affectionately known as Bibo, was given a lifeline after his appeal in July earlier this year.
