- Mamelodi Sundowns close to signing Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg United
- Deal agreed in principle but personal terms still to be discussed
- Ndlovu won the Midfielder and Young player of the season awards last term
Mamelodi Sundowns are close to signing talented midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu from Maritzburg United. This was revealed by Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodla in an interview with KickOff.com. He confirmed that the deal has already been agreed in principle between the 2 clubs. However, the player is yet to put pen to paper.
In an unexpected twist, KickOff.com also report that various sources have revealed Ndlovu’s interest in joining Orlando Pirates as he grew up as a supporter of the Buccaneers. This ties in with the report that the transfer to Downs was brokered in August already but delayed as a result of the personal terms. Maritzburg have reportedly received a bid from Pirates as well but it paled in comparison to the one from Sundowns.
Ndlovu has had a sluggish start to the season following a 2 match ban and also missed out on Bafana Bafana selection this month. However, the Brazilians’ interest stems from his stand-out campaign last season where he won the PSL Midfielder and Young player of the season awards.
