John Terry set for managerial spell with Championship side Aston Villa

- John Terry has been lined up to become new Aston Villa manager

- Steve Bruce was sacked after his side have been rooted to 13th

- Former Arsenal star Thierry Henry is also in the running for the job

Championship side, Aston Villa have sacked Steve Bruce and a number of names have been lined up as possible replacements.

Villa's chief executive Christian Purslow announced on Wednesday following their team's poor strings of result in the second-tier division.

The candidates queuing for the managerial position includes; John Terry, Thierry Henry, Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk, former Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal and Graham Potter.

Terry is currently studying for his coaching badges and was at Chelsea's Cobham base watching a youth team game.

But it is unclear if the former England captain would be comfortable to succeed his former manager who brought him to Upton Park last season.

The team from the West Midlands are currently languishing in 13th position in the Championships table, having narrowly missed getting promoted into the Premier League last season.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Chelsea legend John Terry is open to a return to Stamford Bridge not as a player but as a coach.

Maurizio Sarri revealed this while reacting to Terry’s recent decision not to join Russian top club Spartak Moscow at the last minute amid claims of a potential return to West London, says Terry still fancies more playing time on the pitch but would be excited if the former Blues ace opts to commence his coaching career at Chelsea.
