- Coach Stuart Baxter adds Aubrey Modiba to the squad after announcement of initial shortlist
- 25 man squad finalised to take on Seychelles in back to back matches
- Modiba scored a beautiful free kick facing Polokwane City on Tuesday
Aubrey Modiba earned a late recall to the Bafana Bafana squad to face the Seychelles in a double header. Bafana will face The Pirates in Afcon qualifiers on 13th and 16th October. Briefly.co.za gathered the fullback was not in Baxter’s initial plans as his 24 man squad was announced on Monday.
However, he scored a lovely free kick on Tuesday, which seemed to serve as a timely reminder of his quality and has been added as the 25th member of the squad. Modiba excelled in the Nedbank Ke Yona initiative and is testament to the opportunities available for hard-working young players in the country. Baxter and Modiba are well acquainted from their time together at Supersport United prior to Baxter’s appointment as national coach. It will not be the youngster’s first taste of the national team as he previously featured on March, May at the Cosafa Cup and September against Libya as a subsitute.
