Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates are fierce rivals on field but the 2 men on the touchline went into battle today. Giovanni Solinas, coach of the Amakhosi, and Milutin Sredojevic, coach of the Buccaneers, were the 2 favorites for the coach of the month award announced today.
The other contenders were Kaitano Tembo at SuperSport United and Polokwane City’s Josef Vukusic.
The Buccaneers boasted with 7 points in September following victories over Supersport United, Bakgaga and a draw with Cape Town City. However, the Glamour Boys enjoyed an ever better month earning 9 points as result of wins over the Citizens, Free State Stars and Amazulu.
Aside from the higher points tally, the goal difference during the month also favored Chiefs as they scored 8 and only conceded 1. Whereas the Sea robbers netted 7 times while conceding 4.
Based purely on results, Solinas was the deserved recipient of the award as the announcement was made earlier today. The Italian pockets R5000 from Premiership sponsors, Absa. In fact, it was a double swoop for Amakhosi as Khama Billiat won the player of the month award.
