Kaizer Chiefs star striker Khama Billiat has insisted that the Premier Soccer League (PSL) giants still commands the respect of players and had lost none of its pedigree or lustre as a result of the three-year trophy drought.

Billiat said the club remained bigger than any single person and all the players and staff at the club had immense respect for the club, its legacy and what it stood for. Billiat said no one was at Kaizer Chiefs to change the club because the club was bigger than anyone.

Billiat has had a dream start to his career at Kaizer Chiefs after moving to the Naturena from Mamelodi Sundowns at end of last season on a free transfer deal. Billiat has been the standout player for Kaizer Chiefs this season.

Briefly.co.za gathered that Billiat’s performance thus far has earned him high praises from Kaizer Chiefs head coach Giovanni Solinas.

Solinas recently compared Billiat to Lionel Messi saying Barcelona played with 11 players and Messi while Kaizer Chiefs played with 11 players and Billiat. Solinas has repeatedly said he believes Billiat is the best player in South Africa.

Kickoff.co.za reported that Billiat and Solinas were named the PSL’s player and coach of the month for September. They were rewarded for a remarkable turnaround shown by the side which saw the side record three consecutive wins and end September in third on the PSL log.

Billiat has scored five goals and four assists in all competitive matches for the Kaizer Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Billiat's former coach Pitso Mosimane praised the striker for his continued growth and extreme maturity this season. Mosimane said he was pleased to see Billiat succeed in a new environment even if he was slighlty jealous of not having Billiat in his side anymore.
