22-year-old Andile Ngcobo hopes to inspire the youth of South Africa to see agriculture as a possible and awesome career choice. He wants to change people's perceptions on farming and he really is inspiring us.
Andile is the manager of Tusokuhle Farm in Pietermaritzburg, KZN and he's showing the youngsters what's possible with drive and passion.
Andile wants young South Africans to see that there is a future in agriculture.
Tusokuhle Farm gives produce to many charities in Durban. When the young manager starting sharing the farm's story, he realised that many people aren't really exposed to the kind of thing they do.
So he started sharing the day-to-day routine and happenings of the farm to change people's perceptions. He urges the youth to learn from the older generations.
You may have theoretical experience but nothing surpasses the practical experience that the elderly have from consistency, failures and breakthroughs.
Andile is worried about the price of local produce because of the competitive nature of the market. He fears that quality is being neglected in favour of price.
The farmer believes that more young black farmers is the solution. Funding and marketing should be focused too, according to a report by TimesLIVE.
With more minds and caring hearts like Andile's, South Africa's future looks a lot brighter.
