Newly promoted Highlands Park have continued with their impressive run in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) with a well-deserved win against Chippa United. The match which took place at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa ended 2-1 in favour of Highlands Park.
The win comes after Highlands Park held Kaizer Chiefs to a stunning draw in their mid-week clash at the same venue. Highlands Park is now seventh on the PSL log. The club boasts an impressive record of only one loss in the last 17 matches.
Mothobi Mvala opened the scoring in the 13th minute of the match to give Highlands Park an early lead. Lindokuhle Mbatha doubled the lead for Highlands Park with a stunning header in the 65th minute of the match.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the match looked to be done and dusted until Chippa pulled one goal back with seven minutes remaining on the clock thanks to Tebogo Tlolane.
Kickoff.co.za reported that the final couple of minutes of the match were tense as Chippa searched for an equaliser but were ultimately denied by a spirited Highlands side.
Highlands Park head coach Owen da Gama praised his side for their hard work and dedication. He also thanked his technical team for their continued work in finding ways to get the best out of players.
Mothobi Mvala was named as the man of the match.
Tendai Ndoro is yet to make his debut for the team as the club wants to make certain he is eligible to play so as to avoid the same fate which befell Cape Town Ajax.
