On Sunday, an ANC branch meeting in Wells Estate turned violent and members threw each other with chairs.

However, according to a report by TimesLIVE, the branch leader was also stabbed. Briefly.co.za learned Thandolwethu Gebengana was rushed to the hospital after he was stabbed in the back twice and hit with a glass bottle in the face.

Tempers flared up after members drew up a nominations list for MPs and MPLs ahead of next year's general elections.

The video was shared on Herald LIVE's Facebook page and gathered over 18 500 views within just a couple of hours.

The footage sparked quite the reaction on social media, and South Africans were left concerned about the country's future.

Loren Grunewald commented: "And they want to rule this country, oh dear Lord, please help us."
Claire El-Jabi Verdonk added, "Cushions on the floor for the next meeting. Pillow fights are less expensive than chair throwing & might just turn into fun! Certainly less injuries to those caught up in this."
Wayne Krüger wrote, "Uncivilized! As much as I would like the DA to win the elections next year, I fear that if that happened, that this country would lapse into a war because the ANC only know one thing when they don’t get their way and that is violence!"
