Thuli Madonsela is the soft-spoken iron lady we have to thank for the state capture inquiry. Thanks to her dedication to justice, corruption has been taken on in South Africa.

However, Madonsela feels that she would have concluded the inquiry within 6 months.

The man in charge of the state capture inquiry, Raymond Zondo, has applied for a 2-year extension over the 6 months he was initially given.

According to a report by TimesLIVE, this means Zondo is either more relaxed about concluding the inquiry or Madonsela was being way too optimistic.

Madonsela was convinced 6 months would have been enough because she has years of experience as an investigator.

The former public prosecutor feels that the current inquiry commission should focus less on nitpicking about who remembers what they ate or which Gupta brother they dealt with, and more on the facts of the deals done by the notorious family.

However, Madonsela means no disrespect to Zondo. She feels it would be very improper of her to question the way he is handling the inquiry.

She does not wish to discredit Zondo or the work of the commission.
