On Thursday, a video was shared on social media which showed metro cops arresting the taxi driver, who was caught on camera driving on the wrong side of the road.
The Intelligence Bureau SA took to Facebook to share a video of the taxi driver, who was schooled by a biker.
"The Taxi driver that was captured on camera by a biker driving into oncoming traffic on Sloane Street in Bryanston has been arrested by @JMPDSafety officers. The driver has been charged with Reckless & Negligent driving. Huge well done to JMPD keep up the fantastic work," the video was captioned on Facebook.
South Africans praised the police for their swift action in taking the taxi driver into custody.
Johan En Amanda Stapelberg wrote, "Good for you guys, but this is just one of the thousands that does this. Are you going to arrest everyine that is captured on camera by other drivers?"
Sandy Rajpal added, "Well done! Now let's all become accountable within our own communities and make the difference, like the biker. We turn the other way far too often."
However, some social media users felt the police would not have made the arrest was it not for the heroic actions of the biker.
Bonginkosi Thekiso commented: "I am not sure if we should celebrate that Jmpd had arrested this driver. How many taxi drivers are driving like this ? I would be celebrating the bravery of the biker who put his life on the line."
Briefly.co.za reported previously about a video, which showed a biker blocking the taxi from driving in the wrong lane.
