Emily and Ben Coussens wanted to wait until they got married before having intercourse. The Christians, who met at church, eventually tied the knot in September 2009 after dating two years.
However, on their wedding night things did not quite turn out as they hoped. While trying to consummate their marriage, Emily felt extreme pain.
She described the attempt as a knife being 'shoved inside' her and 'hitting a brick wall, Daily Mail reported.
Doctors diagnosed her with vaginismus- a condition where muscles in the female genital tighten to the extent that penetration it impossible.
