Seychelles face a tough battle with Bafana Bafana on Saturday at the FNB stadium but an even tougher route home.
It seems that SAFA (South African Football Association) has caught everyone by surprise when they booked Bafana’s flight to Seychelles for the return leg between the 2 nations.
Their flight on Air Seychelles was booked well in advance and now the airline is unable to cater favourably for their national team.
Air Seychelles actually made arrangements for the extra traffic due to the AFCON qualifier but is still not in a position to accommodate their football team in addition to Bafana.
Sowetan Live reported that the Seychelles Football Federation misread their fixtures and were under the impression that the first leg would be played in their homeland.
The net effect is that Bafana will fly directly on Sunday afternoon with only a 5 hour flight to contend with. This bodes well for their training preparations on Monday morning.
Conversely, the Seychelles team will have to deal with a gruelling, much longer flight through Nairobi in Kenya.
Seychelles currently lie bottom of the group with zero points and the logistical arrangements will be an even bigger boost for Bafana over the 2 legs.
