30-year-old Thato Sekoane is an inspiring kasi entrepreneur who owns his own successful bakery business in Mapetla, Soweto.
Thato named his business Jomo’s Cakes, according to Daily Sun. Previously, he owned a car wash, which gave him the bakery idea.
He already had a passion for baking and then realised he could more money selling cakes and refreshments to clients waiting for their cars to be washed.
He therefore started baking cakes from his mom's house in 2016, Briefly.co.za gathered. With time, he was able to build a garage where his business is now located.
As Thato focused on the bakery business, his car wash gig suffered. However, the success he has achieved more than compensates for it.
Thato has created jobs for seven people so far. Two of them work in the bakery while the rest distribute cakes to clients spread across various offices in Johannesburg.
He also offers takes orders for events such as birthday parties and weddings. The young entrepreneur said:
I’m enjoying what I do and glad that I can give young people who have lost hope a chance of learning about business and being your own boss.
