- Shashi Naidoo has once again come under fire for her comments about Gaza
- The model had reached out to the BDS during the debacle to plan a trip to Palestine, but they have since distanced themselves from her
- Shashi had been offered a sum of money to stop her from travelling to Palestine, but she refused to accept it
Shashi Naidoo landed herself in hot water earlier this year after making controversial statements about Gaza, but now she has had to defend herself again from tweeps who have questioned her association with BDS.
The model revealed that she had indeed reached out to the BDS movement for assistance during the height of the scandal, but instead she was offered R1.5 million to not go on her ‘fact-finding trip to Palestine’.
The model and the BDS movement had organised a ’fact-finding trip’ to Palestine so that she can educate herself about the country and its current political struggles, but a social media user noticed that the organization have distanced themselves from her.
The tweep provoked Shashi by asking why the BDS had turned against her, in which she replied that she had instead been offered money to not be affiliated with them.
According to TimesLIVE, the model has been keeping a low-profile on social media and has avoided discussing any controversial topics, but she decided to break her silence in order to defend herself.
Briefly.co.za previously reported that Shashi had referred to Gaza as a ‘sh*thole country’ on social media and she has since lost a lot of her endorsements and fans.
While she has apologised for making the comment, the public have not forgiven her, and it seems that they may never will.
The model reached out to the BDS after the scandal, in the hopes of learning more about what is going on in Gaza. This was when it was suggested that she takes a trip to Palestine to see it for herself.
Shashi went with the SA Council of Churches to Palestine, but she faced an intense interrogation session where she was confronted about who had funded her trip.
The model still claims that she paid for it out of her own pocket and that the BDS had nothing to do with it, however she has since been banned from visiting Israel for the next 10 years.
