Update: Department of Correctional Services staying quiet on 'drunk' warden

The Department of Correctional Services are playing coy over the work status of the officer, who was caught on video allegedly drunk.

According to a report by TimesLIVE, the department have failed to confirm whether or not the warden has been suspended after the video went viral.

Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo said an investigation was launched after the video surfaced on social media.

However, Nxumalo added the department refused to give details on the current work state of the officer in question.

"I checked with the investigator and [he] is not providing any information at this stage‚" said Nxumalo, adding: "We have instituted an investigation and we will inform the public once it has been concluded. We are taking this matter quite seriously."

As Briefly.co.za reported previously, a video went viral on social media which showed an officer getting busted while he was on duty.

The warden appeared to be under the influence on the video, and he did not even know where he put his firearm.

The video was shared on social media, and parody Twitter account Man's Not Barry Roux captioned it: "Ayi Madoda. He doesn’t even know where his gun is."
