It’s important for any actor to fully immerse themselves in a role, but Gugu Gumede has warned new actors that there is a chance that they could lose themselves in a role.
The ‘Uzalo’ actress reveals that she has seen so many actors lose their way because they don’t step out of their character when the cameras have stopped rolling at the end of the day.
Gugu knows that it is easier said than done, but it is important for actors to remind themselves of who they are, especially when they are involved in a very emotional storyline.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the ‘Uzalo’ star snaps out of her character when she changes from her costume to her own clothing.
Gugu feels that this is the best way to remind herself of who she is and who her character was because they are two different people.
According to TimesLIVE, the actress warns aspiring actors that acting can play tricks on the mind, so it’s crucial for them to never take work home.
Gugu also went on to say that as an actress, she is under a lot of pressure from fans about the roles that she plays.
The actress revealed that if she was always in character, she would feel personally attacked by other people’s comments.
After the recent double wedding episode on ‘Uzalo’, the actress had been called out by fans for her role, but Gugu knows that it has nothing to do with her.
She feels that if people are talking about a particular character it means that she is doing a good job, but the actress knows that she can’t take any of the public’s comments to heart.
