Former Isidingo actor, Hlomla Dandala, shared an inspirational story about his mom and touched on some flaws in our current education and employment systems.
The tweet went viral and many tweeps shared their approval.
The message starts off by highlighting his mother’s educational achievement. He explains that she only passed grade 10 at the age of 30.
Despite being ridiculed, she is now on the verge of completing her second PhD.
Although one can sense the pride he has in his mother and her achievements, the tweet also aimed to highlight the broader issue affecting South Africans today.
The actor touched on the impact of apartheid but emphasizes the need to overhaul the current system.
He emphasizes the fact that most South Africans aren’t educated and the need to address this.
Briefly.co.za also noted Dandala’s frustration that schools generally only operate until 14h30.
Interestingly, he also called for educated foreigners to be integrated into our schooling structure. The message is simple – utilize a wasted resource to address the current crisis.
Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments, it’s clear the message has inspired many South Africans.
