The realtor, who was sacked after a video went viral of her blocking a black man from entering his own apartment, has finally broken her silence.
Hilary Brooke Thornton lost her job as a luxury apartment realtor after footage of her blocking D'Arreion Toles from entering his own apartment went viral.
She video gathered a massive reaction and social media users dubbed her racist. However, the 32-year-old has since defended herself.
According to Thornton, she is not racist, she was merely concerned for her own safety. She added she also just followed the condo board's instructions not to let in strangers.
Thornton was seen questioning the 24-year-old man, who filmed the entire incident. As Briefly.co.za reported previously, the young man shared his story on how Hilary lives in the same building as him but demanded that he prove he lives there.
She initially accused him of pushing his way into the building somehow. The footage showed Thornton standing with a sparkling phone in her hand and her dog on a leash.
She is at one point heard saying she felt uncomfortable with his presence, to which he replies it's her problem.
