- A mom and daughter duo has reached out to help their domestic helper
- Their helper's house is crumbling after an attack by white ants
- They have started an online fundraising campaign to help her rebuild her home
A mom and daughter in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal, have started an online fundraising campaign to help their domestic worker rebuild her dilapidated home.
Kerryn Rae Hugo and her mom were touched when they saw Antonia Mtambo's house crumbling, Good Things Guy reports.
With the onset of the rainy season, white ants began eating away at the foundation and walls of Mtambo's house.
Kerryn shared photos of the house on her Facebook profile, Briefly.co.za gathered. Huge cracks are visible on its walls and the ants have left a large dent inside it.
Mtambo is in her 60s and survives on a SASSA pension. She shares her home with her daughter and grandson, and her son is away working.
Kerryn sourced quotations for rebuilding the home and got the cheapest for around R45,000. So far, they have raised R5,500 of their target.
In her Facebook post, Kerryn appealed to well-wishers to help Mtambo:
If you would like to make a donation, please contact me via FB, or via email at email@example.com. If you can't, but you can help in some other way, please still contact me.
Alternatively, well-wishers can donate directly via the online fundraising page on buckabuddy.co.za.
