A 24-year-old romantic man in Pretoria surprised his girlfriend recently with an epic airplane proposal.

Werner Niemann told his girlfriend, 24-year-old Minette du Plessis, that they were going to a rugby match in Bloemfontein from Bloemhof, w24.co.za reports.

His dad owns a brickworks company, and his dad's friend has an aeroplane. Werner and his dad used bricks to form the words "marry me?" on the ground.

Once Werner and Minette were airborne, the plane circled the area and Minette was surprised to see the unmistakable proposal on the ground. Werner explained:

She was so surprised that the first thing she said was, ‘Really? With me?' I’d caught her off-guard but I know we’re meant for each other.

Proving that the rugby match was merely a clever ruse, the two lovebirds capped off their engagement with a romantic picnic.

Werner and Minette plan to wed in March 2018 in Potchefstroom. They chose this location because that's where they first met.
