People often believe it is every man for himself- but, sometimes a kind stranger comes along to prove to us that Ubuntu is still alive and there is hope.
A woman recently took to social media to share the amazing story of how a stranger saved her and her daughter after she had car troubles.
On Saturday, Kat Stott and her daughter where on route to a friend's wedding when her car broke down in the middle of the road.
Now, those who have driven on a highway knows it is not a place you would want to be a sitting duck- especially not with your child there.
So, she acted quickly and called Discovery's breakdown service- which would take a while, meaning she would still be stuck on the highway.
Knowing there is nothing more she could do, Stott sat and waited for the breakdown and hoped no one would crash into them.
However, a kind stranger, whom Stott described as a selfless, kind and compassionate human, saw she was in need of help.
Stott recalled: "Next minute I look in the rearview mirror, and there was an e-Toll tow truck parked behind me and this man at my window. My initial reaction was that I can't pay this guy and Discovery is on the way. He says to me: "I don't want your money. I don't want anything from you. All I want is for you to be safe. Someone is going to bump you... you are not safe here."
Stott added she burst into tears when he offered help and since he was wearing reflective clothing, the man directed traffic away from her car.
Briefly.co.za learned he then parked in front of her car and escorted her little girl to the safety of his vehicle.
"He got me to put my car in neutral and remove the handbrake so that he could hitch it up and pull it onto the flatbed. He then came and personally escorted me to the cab of his truck and finished pulling my car up," she said.
Stott said the kind man, who later revealed his name was Godfrey, took them to the nearest eToll gantry where there was a wide concrete section to park on.
"I told him that he is an incredible human being and that the world needs more people like him and that I would be eternally grateful for his help and kindness," Stott explained.
Although she and her daughter were safely parked away from the traffic, Godfrey sat and waited with them until Discovery arrived.
