Queen B is, for the most part, having a good year and she has every reason to celebrate. In 2018 alone, Bonang has received numerous awards and made history, now she is being honoured for her role as an activist.
Every year 5 for Change host a gala where they honour both celebs and everyday people for the good deeds they do to make the world a better place.
This year, the organisation has decided to implement a new category into the evening’s celebration, the ‘5 For Change Maker Award’, which will be awarded to Bonang later this week.
Queen B earned this achievement for the work she has done to empower women through the Bonang Matheba Bursary Fund.
The bursary is awarded to ten young women each year for them to further their studies through Boston College so that each young women has the chance to make a better future for themselves.
The Managing Director at 5 For Change, Robyn Deutsch has praised Queen B for her efforts and also acknowledged that the media personality is the perfect ambassador for the organisation.
According to the Independent Online, Deutsch believes that they would be out of their minds to not recognise the impact that Bonang has on many women and young girls in society.
Briefly.co.za learned that the topic of woman empowerment is very close to Queen B’s heart.
The starlet has recently been on New York to host a panel discussion at the United Nations General Assembly, where the main focus of the talks were on bettering education for women around the world.
As a smaller gesture, Mzansi’s darling hosted a competition on social media for three young girls to win a makeover and one of her evening gowns to wear for their Matric dances.
Not to mention that time where she bought an X-Box for one of her followers on Twitter for getting 3 000 retweets.
