News24 reported that on Monday, Dr Joram Gumbo, the Zimbabwean Minister of Energy, said petrol consumption was up by 100% in the past four months.

He told the local state-owned paper that the country is currently consuming about 4 million litres of diesel per week. This is up from 2.5 million litres a week.

Petrol consumption has doubled from 1.5 million litres per week to 3 million litres per week.
