Cops have launched a full investigation on one of their own after a video was shared on social media, which showed the cop allegedly under the influence.
A police officer, who reportedly works at the Mountain Rise police station, has been restricted to a desk job and his gun was confiscated pending a probe into a viral video.
Brigadier Jay Naicker, spokesperson for the SAPS, said the station's commander was informed a couple of civilians spotted an on duty cop, who appeared to be drunk.
According to IOL, Naicker said his behaviour was immediately reported to the station commander and he was taken off duty.
Both the drunk cop and his partner, who drove the police vehicle, have been placed under investigation.
Although the officer who drove was sober, Naicker said he failed to act against his partner and that's why he is implicated in the probe.
Previously, Briefly.co.za reported a video was shared on Real Live SA's Facebook page, which showed the cop appearing to be drunk.
At one point the people who took the video expressed their surprise at the officer's inability to stand up and communicate with them.
