The VBS Mutual Bank saga seems to be shedding light on more suspicious payments received by prominent figures' family members.
Briefly.co.za earlier reported that Julius Malema's family is the latest family to be implicated in the saga.
In the most recent revelations, it was revealed that Floyd Shivambu's younger brother Brian made suspicious-looking payments to Malema's cousin, Matsobane Phaleng.
The payments allegedly came from the looting of VBS Mutual Bank and total over R5 million.
The series of payments happened between June of 2017 and February of 2018 and were made from Brian's Sgameka Projects to Matsobane's Mahuna Investments.
Meanwhile, Malema has since responded to the allegations his cousin received a R5.9 million payout from one of the chief VBS Bank looters, Brian Shivambu.
Malema said he is not close to Phaleng. He claimed he is one of 10 cousins in the family.
Many have since spoken up about the claims leveled against Juju's cousin. The Twitter streets were abuzz when the news broke.
Malema's supporters seemed unfazed by the news:
The BLF leader expressed shock that Malema and Shivambu have not been suspended:
Others couldn't seem to figure out the maths:
Some tweeps even poked fun at the fact that Malema is now being gunned for by the media:
