Editor's note: Prince Mashele is a South African political commentator, co-author of the best-selling book The Fall of the ANC: What Next? and author of The Dearth Of Our Society. In his latest offering, Mashele looks at the difficulty South Africans will be faced with during next year's general elections.
In his recent offering on The SowetanLIVE, Mashele talks about the doom and gloom facing South African politics.
He writes: "South Africa's politics today is depressing. It will be very hard for voters next year to decide which party to vote for."
Mashele talks about the country's main contenders in the 2019 elections; the ANC, the EFF and the DA.
Mashele calls the ANC a huge national university of corruption.
"It has produced excellent graduates who have passed their corruptionology studies with distinction: the EFF. The DA continues to fight for its dear life in a racial intensive care unit."
According to Mashele, the ANC has wrecked havoc in SA. In his words, Mashele says the ANC's corruption has left the country in a state that is beyond repair.
He also touches on the fact that in ANC-run municipalities, it is not about your qualifications or experience, but who you know, if you want to land a job.
Mashele says it's no secret to the ordinary South African: The ANC cannot be cleaned up.
The political commentator then takes a stab at highly popular party, the EFF and its heads; Julius Malema and Floyd Shivambu: "They had already completed and mastered their corruption studies at the ANC University."
Mashele speaks of Malema's time in Limpopo and how he allegedly looted the province until its collapse.
The columnist then focuses his attention on Shivambu, who among others, was implicated in the VBS saga, known as The Great Bank Heist.
The DA was not spared either. Mashele writes about Patricia De Lille and how the DA, who wants to give South Africans the impression it's 'clean'.
Mashele says the DA wanted to get rid of De Lille, who they said was corrupt. In the end, the fact of the matter remains, a DA mayor is then corrupt, thus the party too.
The writer points to Solly Msimanga and the multi-million-rand corruption scandal that rocked his office too. It nearly cost Msimanga his comfy mayoral seat. And, while SA may have archived the corruption scandal, Tshwane is still sticking of the rot caused by the scandal.
Mashele then concluded:
"Such is the headache of our politics today. Maybe time will rescue us - finally."
