The family of late rapper HHP have come forward to dismiss Lerato Sengadi’s claims of being his wife.
Nkululeko Ncana, a spokesperson for the family, released a statement that has revealed that the couple were formerly engaged, but broke up when Lerato moved out of the house last year.
The family go on to say that the couple had been in the process of negotiating lobola over the last two years, but Lerato packed up her belongings and called it quits.
The spokesperson also added that Lerato and her mother made their way to HHP’s home in Randpark Ridge, Johannesburg on the day he passed away to request his policy documents, bank cards and cell phone.
Lerato had been surprised to find the late rapper’s father and aunts at the home so she returned over the weekend to try her luck once again.
She demanded that the family hands over the keys to the house and that the helper who found HHP’s body to send her the name of the medication she had been put on to help cope with the shock.
The Sowetan reports that the late rapper’s father, Robert, confronted Lerato about her claims and he refused to acknowledge her as a part of the family.
Robert argued that if the couple had gotten married, he would have known about it as the two of them were very close.
The family are currently on the way to HHP’s hometown of Mmabatho, Mahikeng for his funeral on Saturday.
