Being a single mother is hard enough and having to take care of your deceased sibling's child as well makes it so much more difficult.
Recently, a single mom's story was shared on social media and it gave South Africans the feels. A woman, whose name had not been identified, shared how she was left the guardian of her niece after her sister had an 'unexpected stroke'.
"I’m raising both my daughter and my niece. In our culture, it’s an automatic. It just kicks in. She belongs to me now," the post read.
The lady added she's a single parent and she was unemployed for four months, making it hard for her to make ends meet.
Add the fact that both girls are teenagers makes her life so much more difficult. However, the mother maintains a positive attitude and she added God always provides for them.
"We can afford to share an ice cream. We have shelter. We have food. And after four months of no work, I just found a new management position," she said.
The woman revealed her niece has also managed to pick up the pieces of her life. She said her grades have gotten better and her mood has improved.
