Thandiswa Mazwai has revealed that she will be returning to the stage in a new live show entitled, ‘A Letter to Azania’.
The legendary singer, songwriter and activist will be using her new show to explore the idea that freedom has many meanings and that it is not easy to be completely free.
“Azania”, like freedom, has come to mean different things over the years and everyone has their own interpretation as to what these words mean.
Briefly.co.za learned that in Ancient Greece, “Azania” used to refer to the South-eastern coast of Africa, but it has evolved into meaning a place of truth or peace.
Thandiswa plans to let the audience into her personal life with this production and they will get to catch a rare glimpse into her early years.
The singer is planning to explore her childhood with this show and she is excited to be sharing such an intimate experience with her fans as she has never done anything like it before.
While the concept of the show is new, fans can rest assured that she will be performing her classic hits on the night.
According to the Daily Sun, the show will kick off at Gold Reef City on the 24th of November and tickets will be available through Computicket.
