- A viral video shows a groom apparently being disrespectful during the exchange of vows
- Social media users slammed his conduct
- However, he has defended his comments, saying he has no regrets
The infamous groom seen in a viral video apparently being disrespectful during his own wedding says he has no regrets whatsoever.
As Briefly.co.za reported recently, Linda Mthethwa is seen in the video rejecting some of the vows the pastor was asking him to repeat.
For instance, he refused to say "till death do us part" and "for richer or poorer." Social media users slammed him for being "rude" to his wife and the pastor.
Daily News reports that the wedding took place in Ntuzuma, KwaZulu-Natal, over the weekend. Linda's wife has been identified as Tiny Mthethwa. They have three children.
In an interview, Linda defended his conduct, saying he wasn't going to allow the pastor to dictate to him what could or couldn't separate him and his wife.
I have been with my wife for a very long time. I was not going to allow some pastor tell me that only death will do us part. Why must we involve death in our vows like one of us has to kill the other?
Regarding the term "for richer or poorer," Linda said he's already poor because of the high costs of his wedding. He added that he doesn't see himself getting richer as a result of his debts.
The couple insisted that their wedding went well and that they are happy. Tiny declined to comment on the controversy because "the damage has already been done."
Linda also declined to confirm or deny suspicions that he was drunk during the wedding.
