A place of worship and peace has led to a bloodbath in Zuurbekom, Randfontein on Thursday.
Three people are injured and numerous cars were damaged as a result of the church hostage drama.
Briefly.co.za gathered that the animosity stems from a rivalry between 2 brothers.
Supporters of the brothers sit in opposing camps as the church determines who should be its spiritual leader.
Initially, reports emerged of a hostage situation within church grounds but that situation seems to have been averted.
SAPS spokesperson, Captain Mavela Masondo, confirmed to the Daily Sun that the shooting that took place at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church was linked to the sibling rivalry.
He revealed that 3 injuries were reported but no deaths.
No arrests have been made as yet but Masondo confirmed the police confiscated pistols used at the scene of the crime.
One person was shot but the 2 others sustained injuries as they fled their car while it was in motion.
The attackers were in the process of stoning the vehicle.
