The 4 biggest cellphone service providers of South Africa are being scrutinised after Noseweek started a civil action against them.

The providers - Telkom, CellC, Vodacom, and MTN are accused of stealing from their customers.

According to The Citizen, this theft is described as ‘possibly the greatest theft’ from South Africans.

The providers are allegedly charging customers for services illegally, and for services the clients did not specifically ask for.

The campaign alleges that customers are sometimes given a vague message that will allow them to back out of the services but there are cases where the money is simply deducted from their accounts.

Now, the campaign wants the police and the National Prosecuting Authority to take legal action against the management and CEOs of these companies.

The campaign seeks to lobby the NPA and SAPS to take legal action against the CEOs, boards, and Furthermore, there will be a lawsuit launched that hopes to help customers get their money back.
