Truthfully, South Africa is having a tough time economically. This resulted in a spike in the amount of people immigrating to other countries in search of better lives for their families.

So, on Thursday, Briefly.co.za asked our readers if they would consider permanently living in the UK if it meant they could never return to South Africa.

We found although some said they would, the majority of South Africans said they would never leave the motherland.

"If the UK you free citizenship on the condition that you never step foot in South Africa again ... Will you take it? And why?" the post read.

The question gathered quite the response and luckily, most Facebook users who answered said they would not abandon South Africa.

Dumile Msani wrote, "They can take their horrible flag and shove it where the Sun don' t shine,leave the Motherland ? Never!!!"
Zodwa Miya commented: "I lived and worked in the UK for 12 years, I never even applied for a citizenship, I always knew that.. I would never grew old there. It wasn't my country and it would have never be. I have been home for 6yrs now, not even once I have regretted coming back. Every country is experiencing political problems, crime rate is high almost everywhere in the world. So, aBig No.. I will choose SA."
