5. Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal)

Two things may have concerned Lacazette last season – his own personal slump in form and Arsenal’s acquisition of top striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, he has shone this season under new boss, Unai Emery, with 4 goals and 2 assists so far.

4. Joe Gomez (Liverpool)

Allison and Virgil van Dijk have both been lauded since their arrivals at Anfield.

Their leadership and presence has been credited with elevating the Reds’ back line to a new level.

However, most pundits agree that young Joe Gomez has been the standout defender this season.

Having overcome a terrible season-ending ACL injury not long ago, Gomez is relishing his opportunities now.

His physicality makes him strong in the tackle and his recovery pace makes him hard to beat. He’s shown excellent positional awareness as well.

3. David Silva (Manchester City)

Silva turns 33 soon but seems to be getting better with age.

His delightful touch and eye for a pass allows him to unlock defences at will.

He’s stepped up even more this season in the absence of Kevin de Bruyne.

2. AYMERIC LAPORTE (MANCHESTER CITY)

Laporte is the glue that keeps the City defence resolute this season.

City are renowned for their devastating attack and they’ve often fallen short defensively.

In recent times, their defence has been rock solid too and Laporte’s contribution has been immense.

The Frenchman has started 19 times for City since his arrival last season and City are yet to taste defeat when he starts.

This season, he’s played in every minute of the 10 games.

1. Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

If Laporte’s inclusion at number 2 raises eyebrows, this one is a no-brainer.

Hazard has always been a mercurial talent but he’s reached even greater heights this season under new coach, Maurizio Sarri.

Thus far, he’s the EPL’s top scorer and creates many chances for Chelsea as well.

Reports linking him to Real Madrid don’t seem to go away but he clearly seems to be loving his football at Stamford Bridge.
