The ANC and President Ramaphosa held a surprise party for Secretary-General Ace Magashule on the 3rd of November.
Magashuke turned 59 and the ruling party wanted to give him a special treat. Important members of the ANC met in Pretoria for a meeting and decided to surprise Magashule as well.
The president, Jessie Duarte (Deputy Secretary-General), and Paul Mashatile (Treasurer General) helped cut the gigantic green, black, and yellow cake.
Bottles of champagne were also popped in Magashule's honour, according to a report by IOL News.
Ramaphosa was happy to toast to his Secretary-General:
We take a lot of pleasure and joy to wish you a happy birthday on a very special day when the NEC is meeting. It isn't every leader of the ANC who gets birthday wishes from such a galaxy of leaders... all gathered at the same time.
It is indeed a special day, with its own Ace Magashule characteristics. You turn 59 today. The secretary general is still growing up. You can see today he appears even more handsome. I think he's even going to get more handsome by the years and also hopefully wiser.
